Lovely 2nd chance romance

Jill Shalvis has another great series on her hands with Heartbreaker Bay. This is book 2 in the series and it is called “The Trouble with Mistletoe”. The story follows Willa and her high school crush Keane. There is history between them where Willa was a shy teen and she had a huge crush on Keane. There was this dance at the school he was supposed to take her to but he never came to take her, he stood her up. Years later, when he enters her life again, and is around Willa again, and hires her for her pet sitting services, he doesn't understand why she wants nothing to do with him for he doesn’t even remember standing her up at the dance. But he needs her, needs her for what she can do for him job wise so he does whatever he can to get her on his side where she likes him again.
Willa was hurt by how he treated her years before and doesn’t want to be hurt by him now so she is standing strong but its hard .I loved how she was so independent and sassy. Yet there was still this hurt young girl still inside of her wanting to let the crush back in her life and redeem himself. That was awesome to read and root for. Keane is back in town to flip houses yet this old cat needs care. He needs Willa but she is resisting him. She takes care of the cat but the human she gives more trouble to. As the book goes on, we get to know more about Willa and her past and why she is the way she is; we also get to get into Keane and his past. Despite very different upbringings these two characters have a lot more in common than I think even they thought. Neither had love or affection in their lives while they were different in the way they responded to that; she goes in the way of being very open and giving to those around her and he goes the opposite of being closed off and thinking he wasn't deserving of love.
There was some angst, a lot of chemistry, passion, and connection between the MC. I also loved the supporting cast of characters. They helped make the book solid. Not saying that the MC didn’t but the supporting cast really helped give this story an extra boost for me. I also loved how there was this nutty cat who connected Keane and Willa together – there was a lot of laughs also in this story which I completely enjoyed. Overall, Willa and Keane is a couple that is a 2nd chance romance who deserve the happiness they deserve. I am completely looking forward to the next book in this series, Accidentally on Purpose which is due out January of 2017.

Better but still not her best work

I feel like the last few books by Jill Shalvis have been missing her trademark spark and although I do feel that this one had a bit more of that spark it was still a little lackluster. As always there was great wit and terrific side characters. The problem for me was really just the lack of any real plot or conflict. The whole story is really just based around Keane and Willa's conflicted feelings and trouble with committed relationships. It really needed a bit more punch in the plot line. The last several chapters seemed to really drag on and on and sadly were a bit eye rolling. Overall, it held my attention but didn't really leave me with that euphoric feeling that Shalvis's books normally leave me with.

LOVE THIS BOOK! A MUST READ ADDITION TO THE SERIES

The Trouble With Mistletoe is book two in the Heartbreaker Bay series by Jill Shalvis. This book was generously provided to me in exchange for an honest review by the Bookaholics Club and Jill Shalvis.
I honestly lost time when reading this book. I did not want to put it down. I loved Willa and Keane. AND as always I LOVE LOVE LOVE the connection the friends and family have in this book. Keane was not close to his family but took care of his aunts cat. That was so sweet especially since the cat did bad things with his shoes. I definitely felt the connection between Willa and Keane which is very important to me. Her books always make me fall in love with the leads. I love that I feel happy, sad, “hot” and “awww” (hint…her present) moments.
If you love a good hot romance you must purchase this book and any other Jill Shalvis Book.
