A MUST HAVE FOR ANY ROAD TRIP AROUND ICELAND!!!!

This guide is jam packed with detailed maps and information about all of the sites to see in Iceland. We didn't get lost one time in Iceland (and believe me, that is something to brag about!), and I give all the credit to this guide. It includes several pages of maps in the back. You do have to follow the map key to determine the next page you need to turn to in order to follow your route. However, I found it very easy to follow the page reference numbers. I actually prefer having the map broken down into separate pages and nicely bound. You don't have to fool with having a huge map in your vehichle or mess with trying to fold it! There are also inset maps which are accompanied by detailed descriptions of the sites in the area on nearly every page. The maps identify farms along the way. This may seem like useless information, but Iceland is very desolate across much of the country. If these farms weren't identified, it could definitely be difficult to determine where your are at. I would highly recommend purchasing this guide before you go to Iceland, if you'd like to plan ahead of time what you would like to do. There isn't much in Iceland that isn't somewhere in this book!!

Don't waste your money!

Unlike other reviewers, I found this book next to useless. It has some good information on Iceland in general, but if you are trying to use the maps to find your way around forget it. Each page shows a map that is a very small area. In order to follow it you have to find the continuation on another page (not necessarily on the next page). And if that is not confusing enough, each map can be turned differently on the page (for example, north is in a different direction). The information on each page is no help either. Everything used to be a farm! Who cares!
A lady the worked at a bed and breakfast saw me with this book and asked if I liked it. I told her "no" and she said she had the book and didn't like it either! One of our day tour guides heard me talking about finding our way around to the next days attractions and offered us his map book, which was a blessing. He told us just to drop it off at the office before we headed for home. The people of Iceland are just awesome.

Must Have for Iceland Road Trip

This was wonderful! This is essentially a farm-by-farm map of Iceland, with written notes on most of the farms and other sites you pass along the way. It fills in where our rental GPS didn't always have the best information. We were able to see things we otherwise would have missed, including farms that have opened their land for free seal watching, a cool hike, and scenic drives. It's also helpful for finding gas and restaurants, which are hard to come by in some stretches of Iceland. We bought this in Iceland, but I really wish we'd had it before the trip for planning purposes.
